NASHVILLE (BP) – The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC) is applauding a Dec. 18 Senate vote passing the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which includes several noteworthy wins for Southern Baptists.

On Dec.11, the House of Representatives passed the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) with a vote of 281-140. This authorization included several noteworthy wins for Southern Baptists and is expected to achieve final passage in the Senate and be signed into law by President Biden next week.

WASHINGTON (BP) – The Supreme Court heard oral arguments Dec. 4 in United States v. Skrmetti, a case which will determine the constitutionality of a Tennessee law banning gender transition procedures or so-called “gender affirming care” for minors.

NASHVILLE (BP) – The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC) has filed an amicus brief in an upcoming Supreme Court case which will consider a Texas law requiring adult websites to verify the age of their users. 

NASHVILLE (BP) – The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission sent a letter Tuesday (Nov. 12) to the Trump transition team advocating for changes to pro-life and religious liberty measures taken under the Biden administration.

As results continue to come in, here are three additional takeaways about the election and how the results are likely to affect issues of life, religious liberty and marriage and family.

Israel launched direct strikes against Iran on October 26, 2024, in retaliation for Tehran’s ballistic missile attack earlier in the month. Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) conducted operations against military installations in Iran, targeting sites in at least three provinces, including Tehran, Ilam, and Khuzestan. The IDF military confirmed that the assault focused on military installations, explicitly excluding energy facilities, such as nuclear power plants. These strikes were described as a response to “months of continuous attacks” from Iran and its affiliates.
