NASHVILLE (BP) – See Brandon Lake and Phil Wickham together in live performances captured on screen in “For the One,” returning for an extra night in theaters across the U.S. Saturday, Nov. 2, after an original run Oct. 27-29.
For the One highlights their Summer Worship Nights Tour that sold 175,000 tickets for the performances in 17-cities, and tells the deeper, personal stories that shape the artists’ inspiring music.
“My hope for this project is that it would not only show what it takes to go on tour, but why the music and touring mean so much to us,” said Lake, a five-time Grammy winning songwriter and worship leader who has also won Gospel Music Association Dove Awards. “Countless lives have been changed, especially ours. Though we’ve had the opportunity to influence many, our focus remains For the One.”
At the 65th Annual Grammy Awards in 2023, Brandon’s “Kingdom” snagged Best Gospel Performance/Song, and his “Fear is Not My Future,” was named Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song.
Wickham, whose songs are a favorite of church worship leaders globally, said he never anticipated telling his story in theaters.
“I hope the stories encountered through this movie show everyone watching how much they are loved by the One.” Wickham said in promotional materials. “I can’t wait to share this with the world and I hope people are encouraged by it.”
At the 2022 Dove Awards, Wickham was named Songwriter of the Year. The “Hymn of Heaven” Album was named Worship Album of the Year, and the title track won Worship Recorded Song of the Year.
