SBC DIGEST: State convention season coming soon; SBC ’25 hotel info available

State convention annual meeting season set to begin in September

While the SBC Annual Meeting and Pastors’ Conference is the largest single gathering of Southern Baptists annually, more Southern Baptists combined participate in their state convention annual meetings every fall.

September through November are busy months in the Southern Baptist Convention as 40 of the 41 state conventions gather to worship, pray and do business. Puerto Rico holds its annual meeting in the spring.

Meeting in a variety of locations and settings, these state meetings are great times of encouragement and edification for local pastors and church members. It also is a time for entities – both state and national – to showcase their ministries to Southern Baptists across the nation.

Things get underway in New York in late September and culminate in mid-November when 17 states meet the week of November 10-14. For more information about your state annual meeting, check your state convention website.

Hotel information for SBC25 released

NASHVILLE (BP) – Hotel information for the 2025 SBC Annual Meeting and Pastors’ Conference has been posted on the annual meeting website. Hotel reservations availability opens Monday, Oct. 7, at noon Eastern.

The Omni Dallas will once again serve as the convention hotel for the event held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas. The Omni has the distinction as being the only hotel connected to the center – a drastic change from the setup in Indianapolis in 2024 which saw more than a dozen hotels connected to the facility.

Anticipating a need for more than 20,000 room nights for the week, the SBC Executive Committee has contracted with more than two dozen hotels for rooms across the Metroplex.

“It is always a challenge to determine how many rooms will be needed in a given city,” said Lynn Richmond, convention manager for the SBC EC. “We are grateful that Dallas has worked with us to make sure we have plenty of rooms available for our attendees.”

The last time the annual meeting was held in Dallas, in 2018, messengers totaled 9,632. More than 12,000 messengers are anticipated in 2025 with a total anticipated attendance of around 17,500.
